Métis Nation–Saskatchewan is hiring an Event Coordinator. Our team is a diverse, well-organized group and we are looking to hire someone who balances and brings in an energy that complements our group. This is a junior to intermediate level role offering excellent learning opportunities to grow your skills and career. This position is located in our downtown Saskatoon location and reports to the Events and Experiences Manager.
This role will be part of the Storytelling & Content Services team and will focus on working in conjunction with the various teams at Métis Nation–Saskatchewan to deliver exceptional world class events throughout the year including the internationally known Back to Batoche Days. The Events’ Coordinator will work closely with the Events and Experiences Manager with planning, building, hosting and reporting on the events of the Métis Nation–Saskatchewan. This role requires the ability to juggle multiple priorities, work under tight deadlines and have an eye for detail.
Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with and support the Manager, Events and Experiences to plan, build, and host events focused on delivering the MN–S experience.

Execute events that deliver consistency in tone, and substance.

Help maintain our high level of brand awareness and accuracy.

Work with the Storytelling & Creative Services team to bring strategy to life through user experiential touchpoints at events.

Work with vendors to establish cost effective project plans for presentation.

Gather and provide key project information to the Manager, Events and Experiences.

Participate in the delivery of reports on key data gathered from events.
-
Be a second set of eyes for all branding and areas of opportunities.

Proactively identifies opportunities to enhance event experiences and operational efficiency by taking initiative and anticipating needs before they arise.

Applies knowledge of current event planning trends, best practices, and industry standards to ensure high-quality, professional event execution.

Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A degree or diploma in marketing, communications or business management or equivalent experience.
- 2-3 years of event management experience.
- Must be proficient in Mac platform with extensive knowledge in the Adobe PDFs, Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams.) SharePoint, EventBrite, Zoom, and OneDrive.
- Experience with working with mail-merges, data management, name tag creation and other office management related processes.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Understanding of Métis culture, history, citizens, and communities.
- Excellent English written and verbal communications skills. Knowledge or familiarity with Michif, French, Dene, or Cree is considered an asset.
- Keen knowledge of event planning, and the delivery of exceptional events.
- Ability to coordinate services with vendors to ensure effective event execution.
- Knowledge of project management and scheduling software.
- Always maintain strict confidentiality.
- Ability to communicate effectively and confidently to all levels of the organization.
- Self-motivated creative and strategic thinker with incredible attention to detail
- Able to take a project from the start to the finish line with the creative team and genuinely enjoys engaging with colleagues to get work done.
- Ability to work independently and multitask within calendar deadlines and deliverables.
- The ability to work on site or hybrid.
- Passionate about collaborating with the team on bringing strategy to life through user experiences.
- Ability to navigate an ever evolving, changing work environment.
Additional Requirements:
- Must undergo a Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Valid Saskatchewan driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Must be able to work evenings and/or weekends as needed.
- Must be willing to travel on a regular basis for events.
