SUMMER STUDENT – CEMENT LABORATORY SERVICES – CALGARY (CA2)
The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting entry level tests and analyses to support well cementing field operations.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that Trican's core value, "Safe equipment and operations" is the priority in all activities
- Perform basic laboratory testing under supervision
- Operate and maintain basic laboratory testing equipment as directed
- Conduct various general laboratory duties as requested such as cleanup, maintenance, and calibration
- Comply with all laboratory policies and procedures while performing functions within the laboratory environment
- Prepare various cement reports and documents based on analysis of various laboratory tests
- Learn the basics of oilfield cementing practices and terminology
- Assist senior staff in providing technical assistance to internal clients
Experience & Skills:
- Enrollment in post-secondary education with preference to a Degree or Technical Certificate related to Chemistry or the Petroleum Industry
- Experience in general laboratory techniques is an asset
- H2S and first aid training is an asset
- Admirable interpersonal skills conveyed in a pleasant and professional manner when interacting with employees and management
- Sound analytical and interpretational skills
- Problem-solving techniques to complications that may arise
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to prioritize multiple activities with tight deadlines
- High attention to detail
- Able to work with minimal supervision at a fast pace and produce quality work
