Marketing Statement The Metro Vancouver Transit Police Service is the Lower Mainland’s newest police service and the only one of its kind in Canada. In joining the Transit Police, you will be playing a key role in the safety of commuters and members of communities throughout the Lower Mainland. You will be helping to build the image of transit as a safe and desirable alternative to the personal automobile, which will ensure that the Lower Mainland remains a livable region for generations to come.

Responsibilities
- Perform the full range of Communications Dispatcher duties, including call taking, Info Desk Operations, and police dispatch and maintain situational awareness
- Evaluate staff performance, provide coaching and mentoring, and implement a positive team environment
- Supervise and guide staff, conduct operational training, and manage short-term schedules to maintain proper staffing levels and review CAD calls for compliance with protocol including CPIC entries to ensure CPIC policies are being adhere to
- Proficient with all police operating systems: Computerized Aid Dispatch (CAD), RMS (Records Management System) and 87-77-77 (Web Ex – texting platform), CPIC and Motorola Radio System (MOC)
Qualifications EDUCATION
- Grade 12 graduation
- Knowledge of 10-code systems, and police database systems
Experience
- Up to three years in a police-like dispatch environment, with at least two years as a Communication Operator
- Familiarity with the Criminal Code of Canada, Motor Vehicle Act, Transit Conduct and Safety Regulations, and other relevant statues
- Up to six months in a Team Leader role to develop leadership skills, learn TransLink operations, and become proficient in technical systems and codes
- Must qualify for criminal records security clearance (fingerprinting is required)
Work Schedule
- Full-Time, 35-hour paid work week
- Schedule rotates between a block of days and afternoon shifts on a 4 days on / 4 days off rotation, providing consistent time off every four days.
Work Designation Resident. This position works on-site.
Conditions of Employment Applicant will be required to possess or have the ability to obtain and maintain enhanced security clearance.
