About the role
Primary Duties:
Identify vendors of materials, equipment and supplies.
Able to develop SOR/SOW for new equipment and participate in the development of specifications for products or substitute materials.
Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed.
Able to design & develop any assigned technical projects and inspect / installation of that project in the facility while meeting all Cooper H & S requirements as well PHSR requirement to comply with Provincial/Municipal guidelines.
Conduct research for feasibility, design, operation and performance of any new equipment.
Design machines, components, tools fixtures and equipment.
Supervise and inspect the installation, modification and commissioning of mechanical systems at construction sites or in industrial facilities to ensure compliance with all Cooper as well as Government regulations.
Investigate mechanical failures or unexpected maintenance problems.
Develop and prepare design sketches.
Write technical reports.
Must be proficient in AutoCAD as well as Solid Works.
Develop and prepare CAD drawings.
Conduct internal pre-production checklists (safety sign offs) for new, modified or moved equipment.
Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality.
Set up machines and equipment/with safety sign off and section seven (PHSR)
Secondary Duties:
Operate a variety of software programs to capture data and produce reports.
Prepare requisition orders to replenish parts, supplies and materials.
Obtain price quotations from catalogues and suppliers to prepare purchase orders.
Confer with clients and other members of the engineering team to conduct research and determine project requirements.
Develop flexible or integrated manufacturing systems and procedures.
Design tools, dies, jigs and fixtures for use in the manufacturing process.
Other duties as required.
Employment requirements:
P. Eng status
University degree is required.
Previous experience working in an engineering department.
Creative ability
Good verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of Auto CAD, Solid Works and Bytewise
Familiarity with PLC’s and programming
