The Business Performance Strategist leads in finding and analyzing business needs and opportunities to create cost-effective solutions using analysis tools and techniques. This role offers expertise in research, analysis, data verification, data correlation, descriptive and predictive analytics, and creating visual outputs to simplify complex information. Primary duties include:
- Review and analyze performance trends to identify opportunities for innovation, continuous improvement, and enhanced data-driven decision-making.
- Apply various strategic methodologies and connect across departments, business units, and divisions, using data systems and data sets to support analytics and develop and recommend business solutions.
- Develop reports and present research findings and potential business solutions.
- Present complex or controversial information in a relevant, clear, and impactful manner using various formats such as presentation decks, infographics, dashboards, videos, and stories.
- Provide analytical and technical expertise and support for various projects.
- Offer recommendations on data, system configuration, technology solutions (such as Microsoft Office 365 tools like Power BI, SharePoint Online, and Power Apps), and ensure the sustainment of these solutions.
- Enhance project management and drive process improvements for projects with strong focus on data, analytics, finance, or systems.
- Support corporate and departmental initiatives by assembling and facilitating collaboration among internal and external impacted parties.
- Meet with the senior leadership team to identify opportunities, conduct data collection and mining, present findings, and propose next steps or recommendations.
Qualifications
- A degree in Business Administration, Management, Economics or related plus at least 5 years experience with business analytics, analyzing and navigating complex data, using various business intelligence tools, data visualization and reporting, and data retrieval and analysis.
- Demonstrate advanced skills with Microsoft Excel and Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) would be considered assets.
- Strong communication skills, including presentation skills, and political acumen.

Workstyle
- This position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees. These arrangements depend on the operational requirements of the role, employee suitability, and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.

Location: 800 Macleod Trail SE
Compensation: Pay Grade 11 $44.76 - 59.84 per hour
Days of Work: This position typically works a 5 day
work week, with 1 day off in each 3 week cycle.
Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
