The opportunity: The Senior Systems and Integration Architect has deep experience in designing, developing, and delivering scalable system integrations and infrastructure solutions. This role requires strong technical leadership in DevOps, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), cloud architecture, and the ability to prototype and deliver proof-of-concepts (POCs). You will work closely with architecture, development, and operations teams to drive system modernization and automation initiatives across on-prem and cloud environments.
Key responsibilities include:
- Architect and develop integration solutions across cloud and on-premise systems using APIs, messaging frameworks, and orchestration tools.
- Designing and implementing infrastructure using Terraform to provision secure, repeatable, and scalable cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Leading development of POCs, rapid prototypes, and reference implementations to validate architecture and tooling choices.
- Creating architecture diagrams, deployment workflows, and technical documentation to guide development teams.
- Defining and implementing DevOps pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps, or Jenkins for build, test, and deployment automation.
- Integrate monitoring, alerting, and logging into solutions (e.g., CloudWatch, Datadog, ELK).
- Optimizing developer productivity through automation of infrastructure, builds, and environment provisioning.
- Defining and implementing integration patterns including RESTful APIs, message queues (Kafka, SQS), event-driven architectures, and service mesh.
- Supporting modernization of legacy systems by integrating with cloud-native services (e.g., Lambda, Azure Functions).
- Collaborating with security and compliance teams to implement secure architectures and governance standards.
- Acting as a hands-on technical advisor across development and infrastructure teams.
- Evaluating new tools, frameworks, and cloud services to support architecture decisions.
- Mentoring engineers and DevOps specialists on cloud-native, automated delivery practices.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in systems architecture and integration.
- Solid programming/scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Deep knowledge of AWS, Azure, or hybrid cloud infrastructure.
- Experience building POCs, prototypes, and architecture accelerators in enterprise environments.
- Understanding of CI/CD, containers (Docker/Kubernetes), GitOps, and service mesh is an asset.
- Prior experience in regulated industries (e.g., financial services, insurance) is preferred.
- Deep technical problem-solving and solution delivery skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication, including the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Independent, self-starter mindset with a bias toward execution and experimentation.
- Proven ability to balance long-term architecture vision with immediate hands-on execution.
- Demonstrates a high level of accountability, adaptability, and innovation in achieving both day-to-day responsibilities and long-term goals.

Conditions of employment:
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
- Must be able to travel within Canada up to 0-5% of the time as is operationally required.
