About the role
SMS Equipment is looking for a Reliability Engineer-In-Training (EIT) to provide
technical support focused on equipment reliability, availability, and maintenance optimization. This role works closely with customers, OEMs, and internal stakeholders to analyze product failures, support maintenance strategies, develop technical reports, and improve equipment performance.
Work Location: Fort McMurray, Alberta. Salary: $100,000 to $110,000 per annum. Work Arrangement: Remote-first, travel as needed. Schedule: Monday to Friday.
What You'll Do
- Support reliability initiatives with customers, OEMs, and internal teams.
- Develop and maintain maintenance standards, plans, and best practices.
- Analyze equipment availability and performance data, ensuring accurate reporting.
- Identify technical issues and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Conduct root cause analysis and support equipment reliability improvement projects.
- Develop procedures, processes, and technical documentation.
- Investigate product issues and collaborate with OEMs on resolutions.
- Prepare technical reports and communicate findings to stakeholders.
- Analyze oil sample results and communicate concerns as required.
- Act as a technical resource for customers and support maintenance strategy development.
What You Bring
The successful candidate has an Engineering degree, preferably Mechanical
Engineering, and is eligible for or pursuing Engineer-In-Training (EIT) designation. You bring an understanding of equipment reliability principles and the ability to interpret equipment designs, engineering drawings, specifications, and standards.
Other requirements include
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and effectively assess risk.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Knowledge of occupational health, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Strong planning and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to build effective working relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Reliability-related experience is considered an asset.
