About the Candidate
A B.Sc Mining Engineering and a certified P.Eng. or ability to gain P.Eng. Experience in short range planning executing tasks such as long hole designs, blasting letters generation, generation of weekly forecast Self-starter, strong collaboration skills and effective presentation skills Ability to maintain strong communication network between engineering and other department heads 2 to 5 years of experience with demonstrated experience on conventional and mechanized underground mining methods such as long hole open stoping, conventional and modified Avoca, underhand and overhand cut and fill with exposure to paste fills, consolidated rock fill and unconsolidated rock fill backfilling strategies Advanced competence in the use of Deswik mine planning software to generate optimized mine designs and schedules Strong knowledge of exploration methods and resource estimation Smart problem-solving techniques and 3D visualization skills are essential Ontario Underground common core modules training and certification is an asset Valid driving license
About the Role
The Mid-Range Planner for an underground mining operation is responsible for developing and maintaining mine plans that support production objectives. The Mid-Range Planner works closely with operations, technical services, and site leadership to identify risks, evaluate opportunities, and adjust plans to meet changing business needs. Success in this role requires strong mine planning software skills, analytical problem-solving abilities, and effective cross-functional collaboration.
Adhere to safe working practices and contribute to the safety culture of the engineering team and the general mine site Support the generation of rolling 3 months plans, Quarterly Forecasts and Annual Budgets Collaborate with Geology to plan definition infill drilling programs based on geological confidence of material and mining sequence depletion strategy to support a steady production profile for the annual budget and Life of Mine Plan Maintain essential link between the strategic planning horizon to the short term planning horizon to promote budget execution compliance to plan Collaborate with all stakeholders to generate block mining conceptual and ensure the timely approval to guide efficient stope extraction on the mine Design mining block capital development and capital infrastructures needed and ensure their timely approval through conceptual presentations to guide the development of the mine Generate Stope reconciliation analysis and present to stakeholders to inform improvement initiatives and actions with respect to long hole designs and blasting designs to continuously improve these processes and reduce cost Provide timely support to the long hole planners to ensure designs are generated on the short term in compliance to approved stope depletion conceptual Generate and update all needed Planning Standards and Procedures within the mid range planning of the engineering department Support the generation of stope mucking and stope backfilling prints, ensures their timely approval and issue to the operations team to guide the safe and efficient mucking and backfilling of stopes Update the water management plan of the mine annually to support the efficient management of water on the mine Generate historical mining KPI trend analysis and present to the engineering and operations teams to inform the teams of the installed resources capacities and recommend mitigations to improve performance Participate in the weekly engineering team underground tours and presite inspections for all ongoing engineering tasks Perform all other tasks as required and assigned by the Chief Mine Engineer
