About the role
Safety Coaches are dedicated to coaching leadership and employees on safe work practices, communications and safety culture development.
- Safety Coachs will be expected to complete a cultural review of the rig, and help develop an operational improvement plan with operations, and support its implementation.
- Be there as a resource and provide coaching to the rig manager, drillers and all crew members regarding their approach to safety, conducting safety meetings and other activities that occur on the rig.
- Coach and Mentor Crews in the EnCAAP process
- Conduct Rig Inspections – Fire Extinguishers, Eye Wash Stations, SCBA, Certificates, Overhead Equipment, 3rd Party safety equipment.
- Support Rig manager on completing documentation for: Drills, Safe Work Permits, Tickets, High Angle Derrick Rescue, Man Down, Fire, SDS, others forms as required. Documentation is recorded in GRMS
- Coach and support rig manager and crew on use of GRMS (Global Risk Management System) and completion on key forms such as:
- Reporting incidents,
- Investigations and CAPA’s (Corrective and Preventative Actions),
- JSA’s, review with crews and make rig specific,
- Observations/Intervention (not clerical work like entering handwritten cards into GRMS),
- Safety Meetings
- EnCAAP Work Sheet
- Conducts validation and verification of all aspects of E-Paperwork completed in GRMS –e.g. confined space, lockout, tag out, working at heights, DROPS, others as required.
- Conducts training and supports presentation as required
- Ensign Orientations, Safety/Pre-tour Meeting.
- Works with Short Service Employees on developing their safety culture.
- Conducts reviews of Safe Operating Procedures and Lock-Out-Tag-Out Procedures.
- Team Building & Communication – Coaching, Unity among Service Personal.
- Develop rig personnel to become on-site peer to peer coaches whenever the opportunity exists.
- Conduct/support job safety analysis (JSA’s) and Rig Specific Operating Procedure (RSOP) development and reviews. Keeping current with safety regulations, initiatives, stats and trends
- Keeping current with safety regulations, initiatives, stats and trends.
- Exercise/Support and Coach and mentor Rig Managers and Crews with Stop Work Authority.
