The Ministry of Highways seeks two (2) highly motivated individuals with excellent interpersonal and leadership skills to join the Southern Region Design and Construction Division, Bridge Branch. These 15 month term positions will be located in Regina.

The Bridge Project Manager will work with other specialized transportation professionals in a project and team environment. In this position, you will be responsible for engineering activities associated with the inspection, design, construction, repair, and strength assessment of bridges on the provincial highway system. This position involves working on a wide range of bridge, culvert, and low-level crossing projects and reviewing Provincial Overweight Bridge Permits on both the Provincial Highway system and the Municipal Road system.

You will be required to:

  • prepare high quality working drawings, tender documents and manage bridge construction projects;
  • provide prompt delivery during all phases;
  • negotiate agreements and maintain effective communication with regulatory agencies, contractors, consultants, utility companies, businesses and municipalities to ensure cost effectiveness;
  • participate in the development of policies, practices, procedures, and standards related to highway and municipal bridge/structures design and construction; and
  • review, process and approve Provincial Overweight Bridge Permit applications travelling on the provincial highway network to ensure structure and public safety.

You must be willing to work irregular hours and travel throughout the province as needed on a project basis, work in a field environment and have a valid driver’s license.

The successful candidates will possess a university degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in structures from an accredited university and be eligible for membership in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS).

OR

You will possess a 2-year degree/diploma in engineering, be eligible for registration with Saskatchewan Applied Science Technologists have 8 years related work experience directly related to Bridge Design and Construction, and be eligible for membership in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS).
