The Students portfolio at Mount Royal broadly encompasses Student Experience & Success, Enrolment Management, International Education and Planning & Operations delivering support and services that are inextricably linked with the teaching and learning outcomes academic departments are tasked with achieving.

We support the University’s mission by assisting students, staff and faculty through a variety of departments, including: Admissions, Recruitment and Transfer Credit, the Office of the Registrar (Awards, Academic Scheduling & Curriculum, Records, Registration and Financial Aid), Student Success and Learning (Academic Advising, Student Community Standards, Student Experience, Student Learning Services),Access and Inclusion Services, Career Services, Wellness Services, Cougars Athletics and Recreation, the Iniskim Centre, International Education, Residence Services, Student Systems and Student Communications.

About The Role Reporting to the Manager, Admissions, Admission Evaluators assess applications for admission to all undergraduate programs including degrees, diplomas, certificates, and non-credential and occupational programs (ministerial approved) through the evaluation of each application to determine admissibility. This includes but is not limited to accurate and timely data entry of applications and official transcripts and grades; accurate tracking and evaluation of academic documents; requesting or researching missing information or documentation; analysis to determine the appropriate academic equivalencies; and running, interpreting and processing admission related reports and error reports to ultimately determine the admissibility of applicants based on published admission criteria. In addition, Evaluators monitor admission targets within each program to ensure enrolment targets are met but not exceeded.

Each Evaluator must follow established work priorities and is accountable to ensure data and decisions are entered into the student information system – Banner – in a timely and accurate manner observing University data standards.

This position is a full-time role working 35 hours per week. Responsibilities

  • Data entry of applications, transcripts, and supporting documentation following university data standards
  • Assess and evaluate student files to determine the admissibility of applicants to academic programs
  • Maintain in-depth and up-to-date knowledge of admission requirements for each program
  • Control and regulate acceptances while maintaining targets
  • Provide information to and/or refer applicants to appropriate services regarding admission requirements and other University policies and procedures
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of the student information system – Banner – for the purpose of navigation, data entry, and retrieval

Qualifications

  • 4-year degree from an accredited post-secondary institution
  • 3-5 years of related experience, preferably in a post-secondary setting
  • Problem solving and decision making skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong computer skills with data entry and keyboarding accuracy; experience with Banner Student Information System is an asset
  • Experience dealing with a high volume of inquiries and workload
  • Flexibility and patience with an ability to work under pressure while maintaining a high quality of service
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
