Role and Facility Information
Fraser Health is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Acute Care Neurosurgeon with a subspecialty interest in Spine to join our surgical team. This position is in offers a dynamic practice environment, dividing operative time between Royal Columbian Hospital (RCH) - a major tertiary referral and trauma centre, and Eagle Ridge Hospital (ERH). Completion of a recognized Neurosurgery residency program in Canada and fellowship training in spine surgery would be preferred.
The successful candidate will join a collaborative group of surgeons dedicated to providing high-quality neurosurgical care to the rapidly growing population of the Fraser Valley.
Key Responsibilities
Inpatient consultation/documentation including in-person (on-site), virtual/telehealth consultation and telephone advice regarding patients presenting with spinal problems. Be available for consultation/documentation from the RCH trauma service regarding management of spinal injuries. Will cover daytime neurosurgical call for FHA for neurosurgery spine. Hours of coverage to be determined by discussion. (8:00-12:00), (8:00-16:00), days/week to be discussed. Portion of MOCAP on-call stipend to be reallocated to this position. Conduct surgery on urgent inpatients (inpatient 2A) priority. May participate as a surgical assist for other neurosurgeons during spinal surgery as appropriate.
Provide inpatient neurosurgical care on these same patients seen/admitted
Additionally, as a member of the Fraser Health medical staff, you will participate in the University of British Columbia (UBC) medical education program and are expected to apply for a clinical faculty appointment in the Division of Neurosurgery, UBC.
