About the role

We are looking for a Senior Planning Analyst to join our team!

The Senior Planning Analyst is responsible for maintaining sales, inventory, and margin plans and reports that tie to financial targets. They generate plans and models that incorporate statistically based forecasts, merchandise plans and business knowledge to inform and advise on business decisions on inventory, sales and retail trends.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain predictive models to forecast inventory flow and needs, margins, profitability, sales and retail trends
  • Partner with Merchants, Wholesale Team, Web Team and the Planning Director to create and maintain an assortment plan following high-level financial targets
  • Develop assortment plans for sales, margin and inventory in support of productivity and financial targets
  • Prepare and analyze post-mortem reports from the previous year to learn and improve future season
  • Incorporate impact of events and entrance/exit strategies
  • Prepare weekly reporting on sales, inventory, margin to be reviewed by the Planning Director and Merchants
  • Analyze and reflect current trends in performance of strategy based on actual sales performance; revise in-season plans for sales and profitability, control inventory levels
  • Partner with Merchant to develop and propose actions in response to current business trends
  • Work with Allocation and logistic departments to formulate alternate event options and determine initial allocations
  • Actively manage and update sales and inventory flowcharts, P&Ls, presenting analysis and recommendations to the Planning Director and Merchants
  • Reporting/Analytics
  • Analyze results for relevant product categories relative to plan and trend performance for monthly/seasonal sales, margin and inventory
  • Partner with Merchant, Wholesale Team, Amazon Team, Finance and Marketing to make informed decisions on promotional events and season planning
  • Partner with Allocation, Merchants and Marketing on exit strategies, new item launches and collections; provide recommendations in response to financial targets
  • Perform analysis and provide recommendations to the planning and merchant team.

Requirements

  • 8 years of retail planning experience required
  • Experience in wholesale planning, inventory management, allocation or replenishment, financial planning or financial analysis experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business, or Statistics
  • Assortment planning experience
  • Knowledge of Amazon and Wholesale business would be an asset
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; proactively problem solves and recommends solutions
  • Superior analytical skills and proficiency with Microsoft Excel; retail math skills
  • Modelling and analytical skills; ability to link financial results to operational performance drivers
  • Ability to identify and influence critical stakeholders
  • Builds collaborative partnerships cross-functionally
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to articulate detailed action plans to successfully accomplish goals
  • Understands and executes against business strategy and goals.
