The Opportunity:
The Dietitian reporting to the Director of Care, oversees dietary requirements on behalf of residents, their families, the staff, and the community at large utilizing a holistic framework. The Dietician is a member of the care team, collaborating on the delivery of resident care to meet resident and family related to nutritional and dietary needs.
What Is In It For You:
- Completes Nutrition Assessments and contributes to RAI assessment where applicable for all residents upon admission in a timely manner and reviews care plan based on nutrition risk level Interprets and individualizes initial diet, texture modification & therapeutics orders.
- Assesses swallowing ability within scope of knowledge and in consultation with internal and community nurses and physicians.
- Communicates with team members to provide effective nutrition & resident quality care.
- Educates residents and staff on nutrition issues.
- Consults with residents and family members on issues, questions and concerns related to nutrition.
- Promotes communication and public relations internally between departments and externally with the community for the enrichment of quality resident care.
- Consults with family members to plan, document, communicate resident dietary care plans.
What You Will Need
- Completion of a Baccalaureate Program in Dietetics from a recognized university program.
- Eligibility and/or Registration with the provincial regulatory body (i.e. College of Dietitians of BC).
- Must be fluent in English, both orally and in writing.
- Previous clinical nutrition experience in a health care facility/program preferred.
- Experience in gerontology is an asset.
