Job Summary: First Student is seeking a dedicated and safety-focused Driver Trainer to join our team in Winnipeg. The Driver Trainer plays a key role in ensuring our drivers are well-prepared, confident, and compliant with all safety and operational standards. This position involves training new hires, conducting refresher courses, and supporting continuous improvement in driver performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver classroom and behind-the-wheel training for new and existing drivers.
  • Ensure all training meets company, provincial, and federal safety standards.
  • Conduct evaluations and road tests to assess driver readiness.
  • Provide coaching and feedback to improve driving habits and safety awareness.
  • Maintain accurate training records and documentation.
  • Support accident investigations and retraining as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Location Manager and Safety team to identify training needs.
  • Promote a culture of safety and professionalism.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Class 2 driver's license with air brake endorsement.
  • Minimum 3 years of professional driving experience (school bus or commercial vehicle preferred).
  • Previous experience in training or coaching drivers is an asset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead classroom sessions and hands-on training.
  • Comfortable using basic computer systems for recordkeeping and reporting.
  • Knowledge of Manitoba traffic laws and commercial vehicle regulations.
