About the role
Your Opportunity:
This Registered Psychiatric Nurse (Assertive Outreach Nurse) is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of client care within the community Addiction and Mental Health clinic located in the Camrose area. The incumbent performs a variety of nursing duties by administering safe and effective nursing care according to clinical policies and procedures and nursing care standards within Recovery Alberta. As a member of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide crisis intervention, assessment, diagnostic and treatment services (supportive therapy and life skills development) to adults with chronic and persistent psychiatric disorders. Your responsibilities will also include collaborative working relationships with and providing consultation to mental health therapists, addictions counsellors, community treatment order staffs, consumer support workers\mental health aides, community agencies, physicians and other health professionals in the continuum of mental health care. This Assertive Outreach Nurse will be working in a mental health environment and will practice within their full scope of practice as defined by the appropriate college and accepts responsibility for continuing competency through ongoing professional development, including participating in educational programs, research and continuous quality activities.
This position is located in the Wainwright Mental health and Addictions office; however, the program encompasses a large geographical area and subsequently travel is required.

You will teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and take necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care, while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited Psychiatric nursing education program.
- Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA).
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
- Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered. Minimum of five years experience in Mental Health. A working knowledge of psychiatric pharmacology and the DSM-5. Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with service delivery in rural settings is preferred.
