Employment Type: Part-time during the initial development stage, with the possibility of transitioning to full-time Compensation: Based on an $80,000 full-time annual salary About Underwater Robotics Underwater Robotics Ltd. is a British Columbia-based technology company developing AI-enabled autonomous underwater vehicles for subsea inspection and operations. Our work focuses on improving safety, accuracy, and efficiency in challenging underwater environments.

Position Overview

We are looking for a Software Developer to support the development and maintenance of the software infrastructure used across our AOV systems. The role will involve software development, system integration, data processing, testing, and technical documentation. The successful candidate will work closely with the AI, robotics, and leadership teams during the company’s early development stage.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain software for autonomous underwater vehicle operations
  • Support integration between software, AI models, sensors, and vehicle systems
  • Build and improve data-processing and operational workflows
  • Assist with mission monitoring, reporting, and system testing
  • Identify and resolve software and integration issues
  • Maintain clear technical documentation and version control
  • Contribute to product development and technical planning Qualifications
  • Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong programming skills in Python, C++, JavaScript, or a similar language
  • Experience with APIs, databases, backend systems, and Git
  • Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate across technical teams
  • Experience with robotics, ROS or ROS2, simulation tools, embedded systems, sensor integration, cloud platforms, or NVIDIA Jetson is an asset Reporting Structure The Software Developer will report to the Chief Executive Officer during the initial development stage and later to the Product Manager as the team expands.
