Hopewell Residential currently has an opening for an Intermediate Accountant to join the team within the residential housing division. This position will report directly to the Controller.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review financial statement packages;
- Prepare and review tax/GST returns;
- Approve bank and loan reconciliations;
- Prepare cash forecasts and monitor cash daily;
- Prepare monthly budgets;
- Track and report on housing benchmarking performance;
- Calculation and review of monthly Cost to Complete and Cost of Sales;
- Prepare monthly bank funding requests;
- Reconcile intercompany balances;
- Liaise with auditors;
- Develop or update accounting policies and procedures;
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned;
Competencies:
- 3-5 years of full-cycle accounting;
- Post-secondary education in Accounting or Commerce;
- Familiar with the residential housing industry;
- Preview experience with NewStar would be considered an asset;
- Self-directed, detail-oriented, optimistic, professional;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills;
- Decision making skills;
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written;
- High level of accuracy;
- Effective organizational skills;
- Intermediate to advance computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite;
- Time management skills.

Working Conditions:
Traditional core office hours are Monday to Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm. Work may require occasional evenings and/or weekends. Periodic travel may be required.
