OVERVIEW: We are continuing to grow our team and are looking for a part time Respiratory Therapist contractor to apply therapeutic knowledge and skills to a variety of processes we have in place to meet the needs of our customers. The primary focus will be on evaluating physician’s diagnosis to support the determination of eligibility through a government sponsored program. This position will appeal to highly motivated and enthusiastic team players who are looking for different ways to apply their superior communication and organizational skills in a non-traditional clinical setting.
WHAT YOU WILL HAVE:
- The successful candidate must have education from an accredited school and a current practice permit from the General Register of the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA).
- Minimum of five years’ experience as a Respiratory Therapist, in a clinical setting.
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of respiratory therapies including, oxygen therapy, PAP therapy, Level 1 and Level 3 sleep studies, Pulmonary Functions.
- Ability to analyze clinical data such as arterial blood gases, oximetry reports, respiratory assessments, blood work, CT’s of the chest, ECHO’s and electrocardiogram results.
- Familiarity with disease processes to relay benefit eligibility decisions.
- Must have strong attention to detail and analytical critical thinking skills.
- Strong computer skills, specifically with Microsoft programs.
- Excellent customer and leadership abilities.
- Experience with insurance and benefit claims would be considered an asset.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Provide clinical expertise in reviewing request for funding for a government sponsored program.
- Ensures authorizations are processed in accordance with Alberta Aids to Daily Living policies
- Works independently to assess and determine appropriate system entry and correspondence for select requests.
- Identifies and reports any adjudication or system problems to the Management Team
- Identifies necessary changes to improve overall operation of adjudication.
- Reports any discrepancies or suspect authorizations that are not in line with contractual agreement.
This position will remain open until a suitable candidate is selected.
