As an Information Technology (IT) Emerging Technology Project Manager, you will be responsible for the planning, coordination and delivery of innovative enterprises. You will collaborate with a variety of clients to improve service delivery and enable new technology adoption including Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning projects. Primary duties include:
- Collaborate with leadership and technical teams to translate business goals into actionable project plans, timeline and deliverables. Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Build and lead cross-functional teams including data scientists, machine learning engineers, developers and business analysts.
- Develop schedules, allocate resources, track milestones and manage budgets to ensure timely delivery.
- Supervise data management, model development, deployment and technical evaluations ensuring high quality AI outputs.
- Facilitate clear communication between teams and partners providing updates, managing expectations and resolving issues.
- Identify potential risks, implement mitigation strategies and monitor for issues throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure AI systems comply with ethical standards and data privacy regulations.
- Monitor project performance, conduct post-project evaluations and ensure deliverables meet organizational standards.
Qualifications
- A completed 2-year diploma in Business Administration or Information Technology with at least 10 years of related experience; OR
- A degree in Computer Science, Commerce, Business Administration, Math, Engineering, or Science with at least 8 years of related experience.
- Experience with IT project management, leading IT teams, setting up project plans, mitigating risk and meeting timelines is required.
- Preference will be given to applicants with experience working on a medium to large scale projects.
- A Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is considered an asset.
- Success in this position requires a proven ability to deliver projects on time while effectively managing resources and collaborating with major partners, as well as a good understanding of procurement and legal implications when working with other parties testing City assets.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills capable of building and maintaining strong relationships. Solid political acumen working organizational, conflict resolution, time management and negotiation skills; and the ability to influence people at all levels of an organization.
Pre-employment Requirements
- A security clearance will be conducted.
- Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.
Workstyle
- This position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees. These arrangements depend on the operational requirements of the role, employee suitability, and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.

- Position Type: 1 Temporary (up to 18 months)
- Compensation: Pay Grade 12 $48.54 - 64.88 per hour
- Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week.
- Days of work: This position works a 5-day work week with 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
