Position Overview

#About the Role

Our Climate and Biodiversity Department has a regular full-time opportunity for a Planning Assistant 4 to join their team. This position will support daily departmental workflow and will contribute research, analysis and administrative support to a variety of activities and projects aligned with achieving the District’s climate action and ecosystem health goals.

In this role you will:

  • Assist with a range of technical and administrative tasks to advance climate initiatives, including preparing research summaries and reports, supporting data collection and analysis for internal and external reporting.
  • Coordinate public and stakeholder engagement activities and liaise with internal departments and external partners.
  • Coordinate and support the work of a multi-disciplinary staff, including upkeeping project schedule, task tracking, follow ups, resolution documentation.
  • Exercise a considerable degree of independence and initiative in carrying out assignments and work referring more complex issues or questions to a senior team member.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in research and analysis preferably in a related field such as environmental studies, sustainability, or planning.
  • Ability to prepare engaging reports, presentations and other public-facing content as directed by team members.
  • Experience working collaboratively in a team environment with excellent communication, customer service, time management and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the ability to learn new systems and technologies quickly
  • Ability to work independently when required while utilizing solid judgement and decision making
  • Political acumen and experience working in a broad multi-stakeholder environment.

#Qualifications

Post Secondary education in a relevant field such as environmental studies, sustainability, or planning complemented by working experience in climate action or a related field.

**Salary:**The pay range for this unionized position is $44.22 to $52.21 per hour (2024 rates)

**Hours of Work:**35-hour work week (Compressed work schedule available)
