Your Opportunity
We are currently searching for a Senior Geologist to join our Calgary office. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing Geology, Geotech and Hydro oversight to our mining team responsible for resource-reserve estimation, geotechnical engineering, mining engineering, hydrogeology, mine planning, mineral processing, and financial analysis. We are looking for someone to participate in multi-disciplinary team projects, who can lead projects in their area of expertise, and is willing to assist with business development of existing and new clients.
Your Key Responsibilities

Demonstrates competency in a combination of areas including broad technical knowledge, planning and in-field supervision of complex geological/geotechnical/hydrogeological site investigation programs

Exemplify Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) Policies, Procedures, Standards and Guidelines in the execution of all work
-
Conduct peer reviews and Quality Reviews of field investigation deliverables
-
Provide supervision, training, technical direction and mentoring to junior staff
-
Executes technical tasks which require the application of mature knowledge

Assists and works closely with Geotechnical Engineers to plan, manage, and execute drilling investigations

Assists and works closely with Mining Engineers to plan, manage, and execute resource exploration and evaluation programs related to precious and base metals

Assists in business development with new and existing clients through proposal writing and meetings
Your Capabilities and Credentials

Willingness to work and travel to remote locations for short periods (e.g., two weeks)

Strong technical writing and communication skills

Understanding of project related risks

Excellent communication skills to facilitate technical information exchange with clients, engineers and scientists, as well as non-technical stakeholders

Champions new ideas and initiatives, and creates an environment that supports creativity, innovation, and a culture of continuous improvement

Maintains productive professional and personal networking relationships

Drives collaborative efforts within the business line and beyond to consistently deliver high quality work

Physical Requirements- This position has minimum physical requirements as outlined in the Stantec Field Physical Demands Assessment.

A fit for duty assessment is required prior to deployment in the field and is a condition of employment.

Additional physical demands may be required and will be defined in the Project Specific HSSE plans.
Education and Experience
-
Bachelor’s degree in Geoscience, Engineering or related field
-
Registration as a Professional Geologist within Canada (P.Geo., or P.Geol) is required
-
Minimum 10 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education (e.g., advanced degree) and experience
