ThePlant Manageris responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, and operational performance of the manufacturing facility. This role oversees production, food safety, quality, maintenance, logistics, and workforce management to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing operations.

As the organization prepares to open a new manufacturing facility, the Plant Manager will play a key role in thefacility startup and operational setup, including equipment commissioning, process development, staffing, and implementation of operational systems and procedures.

The Plant Manager will ensure the plant operates in compliance with food safety regulations, company standards, and operational targets while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Your Mission:

Facility Startup & Operational Setup

• Participate in the planning and execution of the new facility startup, including production line setup, equipment commissioning, and operational readiness.
• Collaborate with leadership, engineering, and project teams during the facility build-out and launch phase.
• Support the development and implementation of plant operating procedures, systems, and workflows.
• Assist in identifying equipment, staffing, and operational needs required for efficient plant operations.
• Lead pre-operational readiness activities including testing, validation, and process optimization.
• Lead hiring, onboarding, and training of plant staff prior to facility launch in collaboration with HQ

Operations Management

• Oversee daily plant operations including production, packaging, warehousing, maintenance, and local purchasing
• Ensure production targets, yield goals, and efficiency standards are achieved.
• Monitor plant performance through key performance indicators (KPIs) including productivity, waste, downtime, and labour efficiency.
• Implement operational best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Develop production schedules to meet customer demand and business objectives.

Food Safety & Quality Compliance

• Ensure compliance with all food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements including HACCP, GMPs, and applicable food manufacturing standards.
• Maintain adherence to company quality standards for all finished products.
• Work closely with Quality Assurance to ensure audit readiness and regulatory compliance.
• Support third-party certifications and food safety audits as required.

Health & Safety

• Promote and maintain a strong safety culture throughout the facility.
• Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety regulations and company safety policies.
• Identify and mitigate workplace hazards to ensure a safe working environment and plant security
• Lead safety training, incident investigations, and corrective action initiatives.

Team Leadership & Workforce Management

• Recruit, train, and develop plant staff including supervisors and production employees.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management to plant personnel.
• Foster a collaborative and accountable team environment.
• Support employee engagement and continuous learning initiatives.

Maintenance & Equipment Reliability

• Ensure preventative maintenance programs are implemented and maintained.
• Work closely with maintenance teams to minimize downtime and ensure equipment reliability.
• Support troubleshooting and continuous improvement of production processes and equipment.

Budget & Cost Control

• Manage plant operating budgets including labour, materials, and overhead costs.
• Monitor operational costs and identify opportunities for efficiency and cost savings.
• Support financial planning and reporting for plant operations.

What You Bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Food Science, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
• 10+ years of leadership experience in food manufacturing or consumer packaged goods (CPG) production environments.
• Experience with plant startup or facility commissioning experience strongly preferred.
• Experience in snack food, potato chips, or similar high-volume food manufacturing environments is an asset.
• Experience working with SAP Business one
• Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMP, SQF, food safety standards, and regulatory compliance.
• Demonstrated experience leading large teams and managing production operations.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Good to Know:

• This position requires successful completion of a clear background check prior to start date.
• This position requires flexibility around hours, and travel to Head office in BC
• Starting Salary is $120,000 +
