About the role

An established, community-focused retail organization on Vancouver Island is seeking a people-first Store Manager to lead a busy, diverse retail operation. Description

Lead the day-to-day operations of a busy retail location, ensuring strong execution, service standards, merchandising, inventory control, and financial performance. Coach, mentor, and develop department leaders and team members, creating a positive and accountable workplace culture. Build an inclusive, collaborative, and service-focused environment where employees feel valued, supported, and empowered to succeed. Drive sales, profitability, productivity, and operational results through strong planning, communication, and follow-through. Act as a visible leader within the store, supporting the team during peak periods and ensuring a consistent customer experience. Strengthen relationships with customers, local partners, suppliers, and community organizations. Represent the organization’s brand, values, and commitment to the local community with professionalism and pride. Support recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, performance management, and ongoing team development. Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety standards, loss prevention practices, and operational procedures. Work closely with senior leadership to identify opportunities for improvement, growth, and continued community impact.

Requirements

Proven leadership experience in retail management, ideally within a diverse, multi-department store environment. A people-first leadership style with a strong focus on coaching, mentoring, and team development. Strong operational, financial, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment. A genuine commitment to customer service, community engagement, and relationship building. Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead with professionalism, empathy, and accountability. Experience creating a positive team culture built on trust, inclusion, collaboration, and shared success. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make practical, thoughtful decisions. A hands-on approach and willingness to be actively involved in the business. A strong connection to community values and an appreciation for the role local retail plays in supporting the people it serves.
