Full-Time Opportunity for Growth and Diverse Care Experiences
This is an exciting opportunity to gain extensive exposure across our hospital's medical and surgical in-patient programs. As a Medical and Surgical Nursing Resource, you will have the chance to develop areas of expertise by experiencing a wide range of care environments. The successful incumbent thrives in a dynamic setting, is resilient, and highly adaptable to various roles and responsibilities.
About the Role:
- Exposure: Gain diverse experiences across supporting care for medical and surgical patients across multiple units with our hospital.
- Flexibility & Resilience: Thrive in an ever-changing environment, adapting to various roles and responsibilities as needed. Your assignments will be based on where care and nursing assignments are needed.
- Training & Development: Comprehensive orientation and continuous training are provided to foster skill development and ensure you have the tools to excel in your role.
This full-time position, as part of the nursing resource team you will be placed on a full-time master schedule and will be floated to where the care demands are for medical and surgical patients. You will contribute significantly to maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors. The physical demands of the role may include sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and bending as required by the diverse assignments across different units.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Diploma or Baccalaureate degree in Nursing
- Current registration & in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current BCLS certificate
- Current Basic Cardia Arrhythmia Interpretation certificate
- Crisis Intervention Training required or obtained within 3 months of hire
- Minimum two years’ current experience in medicine and/or surgery units within a hospital setting
- Knowledge, recent experience, and competence in vascular therapy (including peripheral and central vascular access devices)
- Excellent physical assessment skills
- Oncologic and palliative nursing experience
- Knowledge, experience and competence in managing complex pain and symptoms related to disease processes and palliation required
- Knowledge, recent experience, and competence in managing post-operative patients including epidural monitoring
- Participates in annual professional education and mandatory organizational education
- Strong critical thinking and crisis intervention abilities
- Demonstrated reliability in attending work regularly
- Demonstrated evidence of ongoing professional education required in related clinical area
