The Senior Trust Accountant contributes to the overall success of the Trust Accounting department ensuring specific individual goals, plans & initiatives are executed and delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. They will ensure all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.
Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
- Review, approve and submit manual payments involving million-dollar exposure to clients, custodians & FundServ
- Review other team member’s journal entries for completeness and accuracy
- Work with the team to prepare analysis of various general ledger accounts and follow up with outstanding items to ensure timely clearing with multiple stakeholders by liaising with internal parties
- Reconcile and balance daily transactions for all funds, resolving complex discrepancies independently and escalating outstanding issues appropriately
- Confirm the accuracy of the journal entries posted & once completed, upload the entries into the Access database and produce the trial balance & review for completeness and accuracy
- Prepare bank reconciliations (CAD and USD), which includes updating the outstanding cheque lists
- Conduct daily/weekly/monthly tasks as assigned in the successful operation of department and act as the backup for the Assistant Manager
- Participate in special projects and other administrative duties as required
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:
- A bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting
- Working towards CPA is considered an asset
- 3-5 years’ experience in the mutual funds industry preferably in client admin, fund or trust accounting
- Experience working with iFAST is an asset
- Proficiency in MS Office (i.e., Excel & Word) is required
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
- Strong attention to detail
- Effective communication skills both written and verbal
