Job Overview
Reporting to the Games Manager/Pit Supervisor/Pit Boss, the Table Games Dealer-Tainer functions within the regular Table Games environment and the dealer in the Pulse/electronic environment, both aspects are responsible for dealing games to guests in accordance with Alberta Gaming Liquor & Cannabis (AGLC) Terms and Conditions while providing excellent and engaging customer service. This role is critical to the success of our business and always maintains a professional manner.
Responsibilities and Duties: Table Games Dealer
Welcomes guests to the table and deals games, including card, dice, tile and other approved games, in accordance with AGLC Terms and Conditions. Responds to guest issues and escalates concerns as required. Monitors chips and cash and ensures the integrity of the game. Observes problematic guest behaviors and reports them to the Supervisor as required.
Promotes and maintains the highest levels of integrity and customer service, reporting concerns to management promptly.
Acts as a strong team player and exemplifies outstanding guest service for internal and external guests. Develops, cultivates and maintains strong working relationships with guests, ownership, employees, AGLC, the community and charitable organizations. Ensures compliance with AGLC policies, ACE Casino policies, procedures and requirements. Ensures compliance with licensing laws, health and safety requirements and other statutory regulations. Provides outstanding guest service by responding promptly to guest needs and requests. Performs other duties as assigned or directed.
Responsibilities and Duties: Dealer-Tainer
Completes and maintains the responsibilities and duties of a Table Games Dealer. Completes electronic opening, closing and game maintenance activities in Pulse Arena when commencing or ending a shift. Actively promotes marketing campaigns, department promotions, events and related initiatives while assigned Dealer-Tainer duties. Assesses and responds to players in the Pulse/electronic environment to ensure they are engaged and entertained. Provides an enhanced player experience focused on entertainment gaming. Performs other duties as assigned or directed.
Education and Experience
Minimum high school education or a suitable combination of education and experience. Minimum six (6) months of dealing experience required in one or more of the following games: Blackjack Baccarat Roulette Public speaking experience is considered a strong asset.
Skills And Abilities
Ability to speak fluent English is mandatory; fluency in additional languages is an asset. Strong work ethic with the ability to maintain professionalism and a high level of confidentiality. Knowledge of gaming controls. Demonstrated ability to maintain effective table control, including game speed, observation, engagement and protection of game integrity. Ability to maintain a minimum of 20 hands per hour. Willingness to improve current dealer skills and expand dealing portfolio when opportunities are available. Ability to recognize signs of collusion, team play, angling, misinterpretation, manipulation of house rules, breaches of AGLC requirements and related concerns. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to quickly adapt conversation based on patron verbal and non-verbal feedback. Ability to craft and execute entertainment-based game dealing while maintaining full game integrity. Excellent interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills. Experience dealing with VIP guests is considered an asset.
Job Requirements
Must be a minimum of 18 years of age. Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check. Current and valid AGLC gaming worker registration, or ability to successfully become a registered gaming worker. Required AGLC certifications include Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Certification and Deal Us In Phase 1. AGLC certifications including Deal Us In Phase 2 and ProServe are considered assets. Ready and willing to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends and holidays, based on operational needs. Knowledge of AGLC Terms and Conditions and Operating Guidelines. Knowledge and ability to clearly explain operating house rules to guests and employees. Professional demeanor and ability to approach situations tactfully. Ability to work calmly under pressure, treat others with respect and demonstrate strong attention to detail. Passion for providing excellent service and alignment with the organization’s vision. Strong willingness to actively engage guests and respond to their needs and wants. Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
General Work Conditions and Physical & Mental Requirements
Stand/Sit: Must be able to remain in a stationary seated or standing position for most of the shift. Table rotations may not include seated roles and may require standing throughout the shift. Walk/Mobility: Must be able to move throughout employee and public areas of the casino. Fine Motor Skills: Continuous tactile use of both hands and fingers to deal cards, pay chips and complete related tasks. Speaking/Hearing: Frequently communicates with guests and employees throughout the shift and must be able to exchange accurate information professionally. Visual Acuity: At least 20/40 vision in either or both eyes, with or without corrective lenses. Environment: Indoor, fast-paced, high-engagement, guest-facing environment. Mental Acuity: Requires strong attention to detail, high cognitive functionality and emotional management.
