Job Summary
The Clinical Admin Position is responsible for providing support to INVIVA Infusion Nurses and patients in the clinic environment.
In collaboration with the nurses, PCC, pharmacy staff and management, the clinical assist will ensure the smooth operation of the clinic by completing tasks within their scope.
The clinical assist will liaise with patients to provide patient centered care, while upholding the ICARE values and standards of INVIVA.
Specific Duties
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Checking daily scheduling software to review clinic for any changes or updates Screening patients on their arrival to the clinic.
- Administrative tasks, including but not limited to, preparing charts for upcoming clinic days, liaising with the PCC for any changes, ensuring medical orders are valid, printing lab reqs and preparing labels, arranging pick up of lab work, and preparing assignments for the next day.
- Ensuring the patients charts are complete and accurate, thinning charts where needed and cataloging for return to head office.
- Centrifuging blood work, packaging and arranging pick up
- Organizing and checking incoming medication deliveries and placing in the fridge.
- Completing clinic and fridge checks for inventory each month.
- Liaising with pharmacy to ensure all upcoming appointments have medication on site.
- Conduct hand hygiene and/or clinic audits as directed by the nurse manager.
- Contact person for maintenance departments should the need arise to have outside workers on site.
- Assist the nursing staff with vital signs when needed.
- Assist patients during their appointment, with any personal needs to ensure their comfort.
- Ordering, receiving and organizing deliveries, ensuring these stock areas remain clean and organized.
- Any other tasks requested by your nurse manager, within scope of practice.
General Duties
- Maintaining and protecting patient confidentiality.
- Maintaining a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Ensuring proper operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements.
- Maintaining clinic medical and stationary supply levels.
- Maintaining up-to-date professional and technical knowledge by completing/attending educational workshops.
- Maintaining a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem-solving methods.
- Contributing to team effort and corporate goals.
- Follow company policies.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Registered Practical Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses, Ontario
- 1+ years of experience as an RPN in a clinic setting/equivalent setting
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Strong communication skills, able to manage relationships with a proven track record of exceptional customer service.
- Able to identify key issues; creatively and strategically, overcome internal challenges or obstacles and report these to management when required
- High level of integrity, confidentially, and accountability.
- Ability to support change.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office.
