Senior Project Manager
Role Overview
The Senior Project Manager provides leadership and direction for the planning, execution, and delivery of complex construction projects across multiple sectors. This role is accountable for ensuring project excellence through disciplined management of scope, schedule, budget, risk, and quality, while fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and performance. Acting as the primary liaison between clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams, the Senior Project Manager ensures that all project objectives align with Urbacon’s operational standards, corporate strategy, and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Project Leadership
- Provide executive oversight for all phases of project delivery—from feasibility, design, and procurement through construction and closeout.
- Drive project governance, ensuring adherence to Urbacon’s standards, contract requirements, and client objectives.
- Lead multidisciplinary project teams and external partners, promoting accountability, technical excellence, and professional integrity.
- Support business development and client engagement by contributing to project proposals, strategic pursuits, and relationship management initiatives.
Financial & Contract Management
- Oversee all financial aspects of the project, including estimating, budget planning, cost control, and forecasting.
- Manage procurement processes, including preparation of tender packages, bid evaluations, and contract awards.
- Administer and negotiate change orders, claims, and contract modifications with precision and transparency.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, variance analysis, and performance tracking to senior leadership.
Technical & Operational Execution
- Define and maintain project scope, deliverables, milestones, and resource allocations using industry-standard project management methodologies.
- Monitor construction progress, proactively addressing risks, design coordination issues, and schedule impacts.
- Maintain strict compliance with quality assurance and health and safety standards.
- Provide strategic input on design development, constructability, and value engineering opportunities to enhance efficiency and performance.
Stakeholder & Team Management

Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders, fostering trust and long-term partnerships.

Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to Project Coordinators, Assistant Project Managers, and Site Teams.

Facilitate effective project meetings, ensuring accountability, issue resolution, and timely decision-making.

Promote collaboration between office and field operations to drive project efficiency and client satisfaction.
Candidate Qualifications

Required: Eligible to obtain Reliability Security Clearance through CISD & other federal and provincial required security clearance requirements for construction project.

Minimum of 15 years of progressive project management experience in the construction industry, with a proven record of leading large-scale (>$200M), complex projects.

Preferred complex project experience: Mass Timber, Health Care, Stadiums & Arenas.

Post-secondary education in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related discipline; PMP or equivalent certification considered an asset.

Comprehensive knowledge of contract law, procurement processes, and construction delivery models (Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, Stipulated Sum and CM models).

Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license and access to a vehicle for project travel.

Location & Commitment
- Based out of Urbacon Head Office, with regular travel to project sites and client meetings as required.
- Depending on project requirements, the role may be required to work from the project site for the duration of the construction project.
