What You’ll Do
HR Operations
-
Working knowledge of organizational diagnosis, change leadership, culture, compensation, engagement, diversity, benefits, HRMS, talent development, performance management
-
Reduce legal risks and ensure compliance. Partner with the HR Manager and counsel as required.
-
Identify areas for improvement in HR operational practices and recommend practical solutions.
-
Provide guidance in WCB, modified & return to work, leave of absence, accommodation, medical documentation.
-
Create and maintain employee forms, templates for employment practices.
-
Analyze data trends and metrics to inform business decisions.
-
Work with Quality on HR QMS / Audits.
Learning & Development
-
Providing overall support and maintenance for learning & development solutions
-
Meet leaders and conduct training need assessment, design, development, delivery (need based), and maintenance of training programs
-
Research and source training resources related to identified employee requirements for competency development within LMS
-
Manage training records and training data input into LMS
-
Research best practices and industry trends with respect to content and delivery methods.
-
Provide operational support on proper utilization of the LMS system.
Employee Relations
-
Provide guidance on performance reviews, disciplinary, development, internal promotions.
-
Assist leaders to manage and resolve employee relations challenges.
-
Guide managers regarding performance issues and performance improvement plans.
-
Perform objective investigations as required.
-
Review and provide guidance for employment terminations.
-
Keep a pulse on culture and elevate concerns to the HR Manager and Operational Leaders.
-
Develop collaborative relationships to support managers and HR operational needs.
-
Monitor the "pulse" of the employees to ensure a high level of employee engagement.
-
Provide input on workforce forecasting, succession planning and restructuring.
-
Comply with legal requirements relevant to the day-to-day operations.
Recruitment
-
Work with leaders to build a proactive talent acquisition plan, anticipate workforce planning needs, explore recruitment options, and participate in the recruitment process.

Perform job analysis, success profile reviews and compensation analysis.
-
Participate in employee onboarding activities (as required).
-
Track and monitor employee turnover and collaborate with leaders on corrective strategies to improve retention.

Strategic Hiring – Develop a plan for campus hiring and internship in collaboration
Your experience is:
- 8+ years in a HR Business Partner or HR Lead role.
- Track record for translating strategic thinking into actionable plans and output.
- Previous experience with Manufacturing or Construction industry.
- Experience leading organizational change projects and change leadership.
- Experience with immigration – LMIA, Visa’s, Workshare.
- Grant programs, such as CAJG, and other training and wage grant programs.
- Experience using an HRMS software is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of employment law and practices.
- Experience in practically applying legislation (as relevant) to workplace solutions.
- Experience working with diverse cultures and a varied workforce.
- Experience working within a Quality Management System and internal HR audits.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in computer skills in Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio.
