We’re looking for a Social Media Specialist to join our Brand & Marketing team, based in our 8330 Chester Street office in Vancouver, BC. This hybrid role is ideal for a strategic, hands-on social media expert who thrives on ownership, performance optimization, and building meaningful community connection.
Job Overview:
The Social Media Specialist contributes to shaping the strategy and is responsible for execution and performance of our social media channels. This role involves managing the content calendar, leading community engagement, and collaborating closely with cross-functional partners such as marketing, merchandising, photography, digital and design teams to support campaigns. The candidate will lead full end-to-end ownership of social media initiatives, proactively plan content in alignment with brand guidelines, own and drive performance against KPIs, and leverage data analysis to optimize results and inform strategy.
The ideal candidate is a self motivated social media professional with 2–3 years of experience in community management and social strategy. They take initiative, actively contribute to business growth, and demonstrate leadership through ownership and accountability. Comfortable analyzing performance against KPIs, they translate insights into clear, actionable recommendations that drive engagement, strengthen brand love, and deliver business results—all while being eager to deepen their expertise and grow within the industry.
You will have the opportunity to:
- Inform, translate, and execute the brand’s overarching social media strategy and content pillars, and adapt the strategy for each social platform, ensuring alignment with brand objectives, voice, and guidelines.
- Take full ownership of social media KPIs, using data analysis to evaluate performance, measure success, and translate insights into actional recommendations that inform content and guide strategy. Provide regular updates to the team, recommending real-time optimizations to drive revenue, retention, and customer acquisition.
- Proactively manage the social media content calendar across all channels. Identify content opportunities by staying connected to campaigns/launches, monitoring trends, news, cultural moments and competitor activity, and leading collaborative content brainstorming sessions.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver campaigns and initiatives, while creating premium, high-quality, engaging social content (photo, video, graphics, and copy) and leveraging industry trends, tools, and best practices to optimize performance and efficiency.
- Oversee community building, management, and brand reputation by cultivating a highly engaged Purdys Chocolatier community, monitoring conversations, responding authentically, and identifying risks and opportunities.
You will be a good fit if you have:
- 2 to 3 years of experience in a social media role creating social media content for a brand.
- A university degree or college diploma in Marketing, Communications, English, or a similar field.
- Strong expertise in social media platforms, scheduling tools, and analytics/performance measurement tools, with the ability to track & analyze performance, interpret KPIs, and optimize content strategy (eg. Sprout Social, Meta Business Suite).
- Passion for social media and emerging trends, with a proven ability to translate brand goals into engaging, high-quality content—including short-form video—that drives awareness, engagement, and business results.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for grammar, tone, and detail.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with a self-motivated, proactive, and fast-learning approach; able to manage multiple projects and deadlines while collaborating cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience engaging and managing online communities, fostering meaningful connections, and responding to audience inquiries.
Nice to Have Experience:
- Experience working with influencers (either paid or organic) is an asset
- Copywriting experience (especially for premium tone and brand-voice content)
- Experience in food-related content creation is a plus
