The purpose of this position is to properly maintain electrical and mechanical equipment and systems that are located in various buildings across Kings County operated by Housing Services. The incumbent is required to diagnose problems and complete the required repairs or adjustments without seeking direction.
The work includes installation and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment and systems, in accordance with applicable codes and regulations, as well as the preventive maintenance of mechanical and electrical components and building systems.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Assess and prioritize requests for electrical or mechanical repairs/renovations;
- Maintain and repair test fire alarm system, HVAC systems, fire sprinkler, etc.
- Repair or replace outdated electrical service/equipment
- Maintain, repair, test emergency power systems: generators, transfer switches, emergency lighting, etc.
- Replace worn or defective parts in accordance with applicable codes and regulations
- Be familiar with and implement all aspects of work site safety procedures
- Consult with tenants to arrange for most appropriate time for completing work assignments
- Develop and maintain preventative maintenance schedule for buildings
- Assist other trades with assigned duties
- Responsible for record and complete of work orders
- Provide after hours emergency coverage
- Prepare specifications and tender packages;
- Ability to read blueprints and construction plans;
- Inspect quality of work and provide feedback to contractors;
- Maintain an inventory of supplies;
- Reconcile purchase requisitions with delivery invoices;
- Maintain a record of materials and time devoted to work assignments; and
- Other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Successful completion of Grade 12;
- Certificate of Trade Qualifications for an electrician as issued by PEI Government supplemented by Red Seal Endorsement;
- Considerable experience related to maintenance of mechanical or electrical components and systems;
- Experience working in multi‑building complex environment;
- Must be able to work with minimum supervision;
- Ability to calculate quantity of materials;
- Must be medically and physically fit to perform all duties of the position;
- Ability to read, interpret and understand construction plans and specifications;
- Good previous work and attendance record;
- Provide Criminal Record check and Vulnerable Sector check;
- Valid driver’s license.
