Position Summary
Reporting to the Manager, Employee Advising & Development, the Learning & Development Specialist works closely with HR Advisory Partners, Employee Services leaders and divisional learning contacts to bring meaningful, high‑impact learning experiences to life across the organization.
The Learning & Development Specialist organizes, designs, delivers, facilitates, and administers leadership and workplace learning programs that strengthen organizational capability, and maintains seamless operational continuity for core programs. In addition, the Learning & Development Specialist ensures that learning delivery remains aligned with organizational priorities and attuned to emerging workforce and people‑development trends.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
Organizational Learning Delivery & Facilitation
- Co-facilitates or independently facilitates core programs (Crucial Conversations, SLII, Insights), Guest Experience programs and other sessions based on program design, cohort size, and Manager direction.
- Delivers workshops, presentations, training across the organization in a practical, engaging, application-focused manner that connects concepts to real workplace situations.
- Adapts facilitation to diverse audiences, operational contexts, and learning environments.
- Supports the scaling and sustainability of enterprise learning initiatives.
- Conducts and supports on-the-job training (OJT) and implementation of OJT programs.
Learning Design & Continuous Improvement
- Designs and updates learning materials and activities aligned with Adult Learning Principles, experiential learning best practices and organizational values.
- Develops e-learning content using Articulate and/or similar e-learning platforms.
- Collaborates with managers to develop new learning offerings that respond to operational challenges, leadership gaps, or recurring employee issues.
- Tracks and analyzes learning feedback and evaluation metrics to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Incorporates feedback and evaluation data to continuously improve program effectiveness, learning application and outcomes.
Learning Administration & Operational Support
- Manages the administration and logistics of enterprise learning programs, including scheduling, registrations, materials, attendance tracking, and records management.
- Maintains and updates learning content within LMS. Maintains a library of learning resources.
- Uses learning technologies effectively, including LMS and virtual training tools.
- Administers the Educational Financial Assistance program including application processing, tracking, grant applications and reporting.
- Supports organizational SMEs with program consultations and implementation into appropriate LMS i.e., Articulate**.**
- Inputs learning completion into the LMS and produces completion and participation reports.
Workplace Interventions & Engagement Activities
- Supports workplace interventions by assisting with the design and facilitation of focus groups, listening sessions, and structured conversations, as directed by the Manager.
- Assists with gathering and synthesizing qualitative feedback to inform learning design and other organizational interventions.
- Provides facilitation support during organizational change, disruption or team reset initiatives.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be proactive, optimistic and have worked in a dynamic environment where they have experience delivering on multiple priorities and will hold the following qualifications:
Education and Certifications:
- Minimum level of education required: University Degree in, Human Resources or Education
- Industry specific licenses, certification or designations**:**Adult Education, Instructional Design, Facilitation. Certifications may be offset by demonstrated expertise in adult learning theory, instructional design models, and behaviour change principles.
- Required computer skills: Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Web-based learning systems or instructional platforms, MS Teams, Articulate.
Work****Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience facilitating adult learning, leadership development, and/or organizational learning programs.
- Strong group facilitation skills across virtual and in-person environments, including managing difficult conversations and diverse participant dynamics.
- Experience engaging diverse audiences while modeling collaboration, professionalism, and accountability.
- Experience administering learning programs, LMS platforms, designing content through e-learning platforms and training-related reporting.
