COMMENCING: As soon as can be arranged

COMPENSATION: Payband 5$28.66to $31.55
HOURS: 7 hours per day, 5 days per week, 12 months per year – 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM daily
POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Substitute System Operator maintains and operates the Division’s automated employee absence management

software system (AMS). This position reports to the Assistant Director of Staff Services and the incumbent is accountable to

all schools in ensuring the timely placement of substitutes. The incumbent identifies and coordinates the specific needs for

filling substitute positions and communicates regularly with school and departmental staff. The incumbent coordinates the

substitute application and re-application processes, enters relevant data into the software system; creates and distributes

substitute lists, as well as providing clerical, data entry, and filing services. The incumbent also supports the strategic

actions of the Multi-Year Strategic Plan.

REQUIRED AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: •
Completion of a minimum 1-year diploma or certificate in administrative assistant, secretary, office administration, or

related discipline from a recognized accredited post-secondary institution is an asset. •
Three years of relevant experience and/or equivalent combination of related experience, training and education may be

considered. •
Strong computer skills using word processing, and email (MS Word Preferred) •
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills •
Solid analytical skills with the ability to use judgement and tact in dealing with difficult situations •
Possess a high degree of initiative •
Good understanding of confidentiality and privacy issues •
Ability to work quickly and accurately with a minimum of supervision •
Must have the ability to work under pressure and meet daily deadlines while handling frequent interruptions •
Excellent written and verbal skills in both official languages (English and French) is preferred. •
Previous experience with NAV Employee Information System an asset •
Previous experience with employee absence management software an asset •
Data entry experience preferred •
Experience or training in Human Resources would be considered an asset
