The Revenue Division of the Ministry of Finance is Saskatchewan's primary tax collection agency. The Division is responsible for the administration of several tax programs including Provincial Sales Tax, Tobacco Tax, Fuel Tax, and Liquor Consumption Tax.

The Revenue Division within the Ministry of Finance is currently seeking a Business Auditor to fill a term position within our team in Regina. As a Business Auditor, you will:

  • Review, in detail, the financial records of a business, conduct audit tests, assess tax liabilities and/or refunds, and interpret tax legislation in order to compose and present verification findings;
  • Clearly and concisely provide explanations of verification findings and tax implications to stakeholders in a calm and professional manner;
  • Analyze, review, interpret, and evaluate business records, including documents and financial data in order to form conclusions, judgments ,and provide advice and recommendations;
  • Work independently and cooperatively as a team member to provide quality client services and to build positive work relationships; and
  • Maintain confidentiality by protecting financial and personal information.

This opportunity will appeal to confident individuals with strong communication and interpersonal skills and knowledge of accounting and auditing principles. Working in a team environment, the position supports the programs and refunds administered by the Division.

In order to succeed in this position, you will:

  • Have knowledge of financial accounting, cost accounting, and auditing, including principles, theory, standards, and practices, as well as techniques and procedures;
  • Be detail oriented, analytical, and an individual who thrives on applying initiative;
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills along with the ability to be diplomatic and discreet when dealing with a variety of audiences;
  • Have the ability to analyze, understand, and apply different pieces of legislation and tax programs; and
  • Have knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database systems, as well as business and tax accounting software.

The knowledge and abilities required would typically be obtained through the completion of an Accounting Diploma or Business Degree specializing in accounting, or introductory and intermediate accounting classes supplemented with auditing experience in a taxation environment.

Prospective candidates with required education outside of Canada are strongly encouraged to obtain either an ICAS Assessment Report from www.icascanada.ca or a Credential Evaluation and Authentication Report from www.wes.org, including it with your application. This will aid in ensuring that your qualifications are appropriately evaluated and considered in the application process.
