Trade Compliance Advisor
About the role
The Advisor is a remote role and serves as a subject‑matter expert (SME) in Canadian customs compliance, providing guidance, insights, and hands‑on support to both internal teams and external clients. This role is responsible for interpreting CBSA regulations, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of deliverables, and acting as the primary client contact for matters related to Canadian entry filing and regulatory requirements. The Advisor combines technical expertise with strong communication skills to drive compliant outcomes and exceptional client service.
Serve as the primary SME for Canadian CBSA regulations, customs processes, and entry filing requirements. Act as the main client‑facing contact, providing guidance, answering inquiries, and ensuring a high‑quality service experience. Analyze and interpret data, documentation, and regulatory information to support compliant decision‑making. Manage and execute multiple projects of moderate complexity, ensuring deliverables are completed accurately and on schedule. Develop, track, and present metrics and performance insights to clients and internal stakeholders. Identify compliance risks, recommend corrective actions, and support continuous improvement initiatives. Collaborate cross‑functionally with operations, compliance, and regulatory teams to resolve issues and enhance processes. Stay current on regulatory changes, CBSA updates, and industry best practices, proactively advising clients and internal teams.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Minimum 5 years of experience with Canadian CBSA regulations, customs compliance, and Canadian entry filing. Demonstrated experience in a client‑facing or advisory role preferred. Strong understanding of import processes, tariff classification, and regulatory documentation.
