largest and most advanced heavy equipment in the industry. At our Acheson, AB Reman facility, we’re seeking a Journeyperson Welder to perform high-quality welding and fabrication work. Base Wage: $54.02 per hour. Additional premiums apply. Location: Acheson, AB. 

Schedule: 7x7

What You’ll Do

  • Read and interpret layouts, blueprints, and work orders.
  • Customize mobile equipment or parts to customer specifications.
  • Perform welding work in the shop and on-site as required.
  • Conduct failure analysis and determine proper repair processes.
  • Work safely with minimal supervision in a complex environment.

What You Bring

The successful candidate will be a Welder, Journeyperson with at least 1 year of

experience of welding on heavy equipment. Other requirements include:

  • Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding.
  • Current CWB certification is an asset; must be willing to obtain if not already certified.
  • Strong blueprint reading and layout interpretation skills.
  • Safety-focused, organized, and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across teams.

This position is classified as an Individual Contributor role in SMS Equipment’s

competency framework, requiring demonstration of core competencies (customer focus, collaboration, and technical/functional expertise).
