About the role

Position Overview

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Receivable Associate to join their finance team. Reporting to the Controller, this role is responsible for the full accounts receivable cycle, including invoicing, cash application, collections, account reconciliations, month-end support, and customer account management. The ideal candidate will thrive in a high-volume environment, possess strong analytical skills, and demonstrate exceptional attention to detail when managing complex, high-value invoices.

Responsibilities

Accounts Receivable & Billing Manage the full accounts receivable cycle for a portfolio of customers across Canada and the United States Prepare, review, and issue invoices Perform end-to-end invoicing processes, including data entry, invoice preparation, and invoice distribution through the accounting system. Ensure accuracy and compliance with customer contracts and billing requirements.

Collections & Customer Management

Monitor outstanding receivable balances and follow up on overdue accounts. Manage collections activities through email and phone correspondence while maintaining strong customer relationships. Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, payment issues, and customer inquiries in a timely manner. Maintain ongoing communication with customers to ensure prompt payment and issue resolution.

Cash Application & Banking

Apply customer payments accurately, including EFT payments and cheques. Review and reconcile bank statements to support cash application activities. Assist with various banking activities as required. Reconcile accounts receivable balances and bank accounts regularly.

Accounting & Reporting

Prepare and post journal entries and maintain accurate general ledger records. Participate in month-end close activities, ensuring all invoices are processed accurately and outstanding balances are reviewed. Support monthly credit review discussions with the Controller. Perform account reconciliations and assist with financial reporting requirements. Provide year-end audit support, including reconciliations, documentation, and reporting assistance.

Qualifications

Education & Experience Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Minimum 2 years of progressive Accounts Receivable experience. Experience managing the full AR cycle, including invoicing, collections, cash application, reconciliations, and month-end support.

Skills & Competencies

Strong understanding of accounts receivable processes and accounting principles. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Self-motivated and capable of working independently while meeting deadlines. Strong problem-solving and customer service skills.
