Job Posting Description:

This is an onsite role #LI-Onsite

Reporting to the Director, Enterprise Data and Analytics, you will be a driving force behind our data-centric strategic vision, ensuring the highest standards of data accuracy and governance. The Senior Manager, Enterprise Data Governance will take charge of spearheading the creation of the Data Governance Office. You will develop and implement a comprehensive Data Governance framework, including data quality, privacy, and security, to ensure the integrity and accuracy of LCBO's data assets.

Your mission will be to champion the creation and execution of a comprehensive Enterprise Data Strategy, while also embedding data governance best practices across the organization, from establishing the data governance framework to implementing a Data Quality Management System.

About the Role

  • Lead the creation and formalization of the Data Governance Office, defining its mission, goals, operating model, and organizational structure.
  • Facilitate and manage the Data Governance Council or committee, ensuring cross-functional collaboration on data management initiatives.
  • Drive the alignment of data governance initiatives with the organization’s overall business strategy and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the design and execution of the data governance program, including the establishment of data management practices, standards, and frameworks.
  • Foster organizational accountability and streamline data governance processes through establishing a clear definition of decision-making rights with frameworks that delineate the roles and responsibilities of data stewards, data owners, and other stakeholders involved in data management.
  • Create and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all data governance initiatives. This includes documenting process flows and engaging with stakeholders globally to drive best practice sharing and adoption.
  • Implement and manage data governance tools to operationalize workflows, establish a common approach for monitoring and assuring data assets, and support data cataloging, mapping, and business glossary development.
  • Establishing a robust system for data lineage and metadata management through implementation of required tools and processes in order to provide a clear understanding of data and its transformation and usage throughout its lifecycle.
  • Establish a framework that delineates the roles and responsibilities of data stewards, data owners, and other stakeholders involved in data management.
  • Play a key role in the development of Enterprise Data Strategy, crafting key resources such as an enterprise business glossary, data dictionary, and documenting data workflows.
  • You will also be responsible for the collection and upkeep of business rules governing data and enterprise KPIs.
  • Establish and enforce data governance policies and procedures to manage enterprise data assets effectively.

About You

  • University degree in computer science, mathematics, information technology, statistics, business, or engineering.
  • 5+ years proven experience in data governance, data management, or related roles, with a strong understanding of data governance principles and best practices.
  • CDMP, CGEIT, Certifications in Data & Analytics, Data Management, Information Technology or Project Management are preferred.
  • A strong grasp of data governance principles, data quality management, data privacy, and regulatory compliance is essential.
  • Direct experience with Data Governance concepts and implementing data governance best practices.
  • Excel at breaking down complex concepts and communicating them clearly to a wide audience.
  • Highly collaborative teammate with proven ability to advise, influence and guide others across all levels of an organization.
