Job Description ROLE: Production Planning and Purchasing Specialist

REPORTS TO: Sr. Manager, Production Planning andReplenishment

LOCATION: Burnaby, BC

We are looking for a Production Planning and Purchasing Specialist to join our Supply Chain Team! Our Production planning and purchasing specialist is responsible for executing supporting strategic production and material planning that drive the company’s profit and growth by ensuring the right product is available at the right time and quantity to fulfill production while maintaining an optimal day on hand. You will work closely with Production Planning, Purchasing, Quality Assurance, R&D, Sales, Logistics, and Warehouse teams to help ensure supply readiness, timely product releases, and smooth commercialization.

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or College Diploma in business operations, logistics, mathematics, or related field preferred
  • You have at least 3-5 years of progressive experience in Supply chain
  • You have excellent computer skills, advanced knowledge of excel & experience with ERP (Latitude , Oracle NetSuite ) is an asset

Nice-to-Have

  • Inventory & warehouse management
  • Supply Management / purchasing /production planning
  • APICS or any other professional supply chain certification

things you will do…

  • Ensuring that smooth and optimized production is planned on the lines
  • Ensure the continuous supply of Raw Material & Packaging to facilitate smooth production while maintaining an optimal on-hand inventory
  • Work with the plant to make changes in the schedule based on day-to-day challenges and log them
  • Work with the plant & cross-functional teams to ensure products are disposed of and the system is updated accurately
  • Identify slow movers, obsolesce & deadstock – develop a strategy around it to ensure minimum write-offs

  • You might need to work flexible hours based on business needs
  • Travel to other facilities when required – At least 1 day a week required to visit our manufacturing facilities in Delta and Port Coquitlam (and in Quebec City and Ontario when required)

Detailed Description Of Duties

  • Coordinate supply chain activities that support production schedules, customer demand, and inventory targets.
  • Support and coordinate new product development (NPD) and innovation projects from a supply chain perspective, including material readiness, trial coordination, and launch preparation.
  • Track project timelines, milestones, and deliverables, escalating risks or delays to managers as needed.
  • Work with Production Planners and Purchasing teams to identify and escalate supply risks driven by forecast changes, order fluctuations, or material constraints.
  • Prepare and submit inventory transfer requests between distribution centres and manufacturing sites.
  • Coordinate with Quality Assurance to support timely lot releases and minimize supply interruptions.
  • Analyze data and prepare Excel-based reports to support planning and purchasing discussions and performance reviews.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Production, R&D, QA, Sales, Procurement, and Warehousing.
  • Support process improvement projects and standard work documentation.
  • Creates detailed 2 weeks production schedules for the assigned production lines, considering all the external factors (availability of materials, min run sizes, allocation of line time, maintenance schedules, storage resources, actual demand) and linking back to the rolling weekly business commitment.
  • Identifies slow, not moving and outdated stocks of finished products and raw/packaging materials
  • Manage all ingredients inventory to meet production requirements and prevent slippage, while minimizing inventory levels.
  • Adjusts production schedules to address real-time business issues
  • Coordinate raw materials inventory availability for production with purchasing specialist.
  • Ensure all scheduled deliveries are correctly received to the intended facility and failing execution of the same, follow up with the supplier to get an update on the delivery status.
  • Closely coordinate/communicate with the Formulator to verify short-term usage requirements.
  • Keep a record of ingredients in offsite warehouses and manage the movement of the same to the plant.
  • Ensure appropriate parties are supplied with ingredients and material scheduling.
  • Monitor and trace incoming materials and appraise appropriate people as to the status.
  • Work with the planner and production to identify capacity challenges based on long range forecast and production plan
