Our client, a respected public sector organization, is seeking an experienced Supervisor, Accounting Services to provide leadership during a critical period of transition. This is an opportunity to step into a high-impact role where you'll support essential financial operations, lead a dedicated accounting team, and help ensure business continuity during quarter-end and budget planning. Working closely with the Controller and cross-functional stakeholders, you'll oversee full-cycle accounting activities, mentor a team of finance professionals, and contribute to process improvements that strengthen financial reporting and operational excellence. Your Responsibilities
You'll lead a team of up to nine accounting professionals, providing coaching, workload management, and day-to-day operational leadership. You'll oversee full-cycle accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, financial reporting, and month-end responsibilities. You'll coordinate quarter-end, year-end, and audit deliverables, preparing financial analyses and supporting working papers. You'll partner with internal stakeholders to provide accounting guidance, resolve complex issues, and ensure compliance with financial policies and legislation. You'll identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen internal controls, and enhance the effective use of financial systems and technology.
Skills and Qualifications
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory, management, or project leadership responsibilities. CPA designation required, along with a post-secondary degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline. Strong full-cycle accounting experience with expertise in financial reporting, reconciliations, and transactional accounting. Experience leading teams, coaching employees, and balancing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
