This is a full-time, 4.5 month contract position earning $22.00/hr from March 30 to August 14, 2026, aligned with our peak shipping season.
As our Logistics Assistant, you are accountable for assisting the Logistics Coordinator in arranging outgoing and incoming shipments of all Bylands Nurseries Ltd. product. As part of the Operations team, you may also assist the Labelling and Inventory departments.
This role plays a key part in keeping trucks moving during our busiest season:
- Communicate frequently by phone with:
- Logistics companies, freight suppliers
- Customers
- Sales staff
- Facilitate cart/pallet pick-up at customer locations throughout the season
- Ensure that drivers have correct & organized documentation (Bills of Lading, invoices, & export documentation for US loads)
- Confirm that Proof of Deliveries are returned and properly filed
- Assist Labelling department as needed
- Support Inventory Coordinator with counting/adjusting Field Inventory

This role is primarily desk-based, with some time spent outdoors coordinating loads and paperwork as shipments move through the yard. You can expect a mix of focused administrative work and hands-on activity throughout the day.
Spring is our busiest season and the pace reflects that. When trucks are moving, priorities shift quickly and hours may vary to support shipping needs. If you work well in a fast-moving environment and like being part of a team that pulls together during peak periods, this role will feel engaging rather than overwhelming.
The position includes light physical activity such as lifting up to 15 lbs, bending, squatting, and walking the yard. Outdoor work means exposure to typical seasonal weather conditions including heat, cold, wind, and rain.
