Purpose:

The Registered Nurse will provide, on both an inpatient and outpatient basis, cardiac diagnostic services. Non-invasive cardiac diagnostic services include stress testing, nuclear testing, holter monitoring, supporting transesophageal echos, and supporting the echocardiography area, and potential opportunity to train in the pacemaker clinic.

Standard Qualifications:

  • A graduate from an approved School of Nursing (university or community college) with a current certificate of competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario.

Required Qualifications:

  • Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life SupportBCLS.

  • Current certification inECGLevel I and II.

  • Current certification in Peripheral Intravenous Initiation and Maintenance.

  • Ministry of Labour “Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps” training certificate is required.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 year full-time equivalent experience (within the last 5 years) in a diagnostic cardiology related area.

General Skills:

  • Patient teaching skills specific to cardiology patients.

  • Ability to work in a high-paced team environment.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

  • Flexible, i.e. cover other areas in the non-invasive department.

  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office software, Meditech Client Service OE, Excel.

  • Some areas of the department provide satellite clinic support to communities. Must be willing to travel as required.

Preference Given to:

  • Candidates who have cardiac non-invasive diagnostic experience within the last year.

  • Current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life SupportACLS.

  • Current certification in Life Saving Drugs.

  • Current certification in Electrical Defibrillation.

  • Experience with stress testing.

  • Experience with holter monitoring

  • Experience with pacemakers.

  • Experience with pacemaker/ICD programming.

  • Experience in PaceArt and CareLink.

  • Medtronic certification for basic/advanced pacemaker follow-up, basic/advanced ICD follow-up, Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy (CRT) device follow-up.

  • Experience with out-of-town clinics.
