Mill Stores-Purchaser- 18 Month Term Slave Lake, AB
We’re looking for a skilled purchaser for a term position up to 18 months to join our Athabasca Oriented Strand Board (OSB) division, located in Slave Lake, Alberta. This state-of-the-art facility has the longest continuous press in North America , giving us the ability to manufacture a broad range of innovative forest products for customers around the world.
You’re a purchasing professional who has achieved (or are working towards) your SCMP, CSCP, CPIM or equivalent designation. Your experience in a manufacturing environment means you understand the importance of safety, and how critical it is to maintain inventory levels and operating supplies. You’ve honed your communication, problem solving and negotiation skills , and have a can-do attitude. Bonus if you know your way around JDE.
Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:
- Achieved, or actively working towards, your SCMP, CSCP, CPIM or equivalent designation.
- Experience purchasing within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with Bill of Materials.
- Forklift certification and experience operating a forklift , an asset.
- Outstanding communication, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
- A willingness to utilize your can-do attitude and teamwork mentality to get the job done.
- Experience using JDE , an asset.

In this role you will:
- Work collaboratively across your team and with other departments.
- Use your problem-solving skills to support troubleshooting and to look for and propose new ideas to streamline processes and fine-tune equipment.
- Lead with your unwavering commitment to safety to keep yourself, our operators and other employees safe.
- Use your organization and planning skills to keep on top of your work.
- Provide valuable internal customer service to assist your colleagues with store procedures and parts locating.
- Work closely within the purchasing department to manage inventory levels .
- Keep the stores area clean and organized.
- Use mobile equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks to physically ship, receive, and store inventory, including lubricants.
- Apply your creativity and innovative thinking to improve efficiency through process improvements

Our Athabasca Division is located two and a half hours northwest of Edmonton, Alberta, close to the town of Slave Lake. Slave Lake is home to over 6,000 people.
