In accordance with Article 9.05, where the previous incumbent returns to this position within the thirty (30) day trial period this position shall be deemed not vacant and the posting will be cancelled. Should the vacancy be cancelled, applicants to this posting shall be notified.

DESCRIPTION:
With minimal supervision, the Receptionist for the Renal Clerical Program performs reception and clerical duties. Within this role the employee is accountable for contributing to the delivery of the Kingston Health Science Centre strategy. As an employee, one must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for actively promoting and supporting patient and family centered engagement and care in all we do.
DUTIES INCLUDE:

Performs scheduling and clerical duties to support the operation of the Renal Program, including scheduling of appointments, preparation of patient charts, and transcription of dictation. Compiles types and photocopies correspondence, memoranda, notices, reports statistics, agendas and minutes. Maintains files, data, records and reports. Opens, reads and distributes department mail and responds to inquiries.

Performs reception duties such as answering the telephone, making appointments, receiving messages, and referring inquiries of a routine and confidential nature.

Arranges meetings, interviews, and appointments and notifies participants accordingly. Books space and audio-visual equipment as required as required for classes and committee meetings.

Prepares payroll sheets for signature as required. Prepares and processes hospital and billing requisitions. Orders and maintains inventory of stationery and other supplies as necessary.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

2-year Office Administration - Medical Diploma or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Two years clerical experience in a healthcare environment.

Demonstrated proficiency with Windows based spreadsheet applicants (Excel Level 1) and Windows based word processing applications is essential (Word Level 2).

Keyboarding speed of 40 wpm on test.

Demonstrated ability with above average written and verbal communication skills, including good grammar, composition and spelling.

Evidence of strong organizational skill with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines is essential.

Must have excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, courteously and tactfully with all types of people.

Maintains confidentiality.

Proven ability to attend work regularly.

Satisfactory criminal reference check and vulnerable sector search required
