About the role

As a Mechanical Designer, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team whose primary mission is to design or improve hardware components (controllers, actuators, accessories and tooling) used in the development of our robotic solutions. You will be responsible for completing the design or improvement projects assigned to you, ensuring that the requirements of the specifications are met in accordance with Kinova's product development process.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, organize, plan and execute activities related to the improvement and mechanical development of various robotic arm modules assigned to you;
  • Support and develop assembly jigs and fixtures;
  • Write assembly sequences for the production team;
  • Perform simulations and mechanical analyses for the various systems developed;
  • Perform testing and validation of mechanical/electromechanical systems;
  • Document design, analysis and investigations to support product development and improvement.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering;
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a company;
  • Mastery of design software (Solidworks);
  • Experience with the application of DFM & DFT concepts in design;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Leadership, autonomy, resourcefulness and proactivity;
  • Fluency in French and English (oral and written);
  • Member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec.

ASSETS

  • Experience in robotics and/or the medical field;
  • Experience with Scrum methodology;
  • Knowledge of quality management principles and methodologies (ISO 13485);
  • Experience with one or more of the following standards: IEC 60601, IEC 60204, ISO 13849 and UL1740;
  • Experience in C, C++, Python programming.
