As a Technology Manager, you will be responsible for leading the end-to-end delivery of technology solutions (TS) led initiatives for commercial insurance. We are looking for technical leaders with the right expertise and flexible experience in navigating complex, technology-driven implementations, leveraging both traditional and iterative / Agile delivery methodologies. On a day-to-day basis you will work closely with senior technology and business stakeholders to drive delivery and coordination activities across multiple cross-functional project teams – your practical experience will be key to enabling these teams, while also growing our internal delivery capabilities for future transformations.

- Own and align engineering goals with the broader organizational strategy and to be able to foresee challenges and opportunities
- High level of self-awareness, empathy and interpersonal skills to manage team dynamics and boost employee morale
- Deep understanding of Mainframe, Java, Cloud technology, development best practices and P&C insurance knowledge
- Ability to lead diverse teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation and mentoring junior to mid-level technology talent.
- Manage and maintain delivery best practices, ensuring appropriate oversight committees are in place and meet regularly
- Partner with TS Architects to coordinate high-level solution designs and Architecture Board approvals
- Capacity to make informed, data-driven decisions quickly, often balancing multiple competing priorities and constraints.
- Build strong working relationships within the TS organization to ensure optimal performance and ensure what we deliver meets key performance indicators and stated benefits
- Use appropriate fact-based metrics / assumptions to determine and convey impact on budget, time and risk.
- Work and manage all aspects of Change and Release management related to the project/pod deliverables
- Leveraging disciplined agile practices to develop and execute on an end-to-end delivery plan Expertise in managing large-scale projects, including planning, risk management and ensuring on-time delivery
What do you bring to the role?

10+ years relevant experience in designing, developing and managing mainframe, Java applications, middleware and cloud applications

Undergraduate Degree in Business/Commerce or a Technology Discipline (Computer Science, Engineering)

5+ years of leading and implementing technology initiatives in financial services with extensive technical expertise.

2+ years of people management and team development

Experience in successfully delivering initiatives with matrix structured teams consisting of dedicated and shared resources

Proactively communicates information in a clear and positive manner. Layering excellent decision-making skills with a natural aptitude for observation

Exceptional organizational and time-management skills to multi-task and effectively manage competing and changing priorities

Extensive hands on cloud and SaaS modernization, integration , and operations experience is considered an asset .

Passion to drive a non-hierarchical, agile operating model and ‘roll up the sleeves’, going outside his or her comfort zone to learn, and pushing the team to do the same

Actual salary for the role may vary depending on work location of the successful candidate and other factors including but not limited to, skills, education, experience, working conditions and the local labour market.
