POSITION SUMMARY
The Human Resources Summer Student is responsible for providing administrative assistance to the Human Resources (HR) team and to gain a better understanding of the roles and responsibilities of Westbank First Nation’s Human Resources Department.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Grade 12 or in a post-secondary program
- Interest in Administrative Assistant or Human Resources courses
- Experience working with indigenous communities/people considered an asset
- Equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered
REQUIREMENTS
- Must be returning to school in the fall of 2025
- Criminal Record Check with results acceptable to WFN
- Maintains a high level of confidentiality and uses discretion on all matters relating to the affairs of the Westbank First Nation
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILTIES
- Assist with HR projects/initiatives and provide support to various HR functions including recruitment and selection, onboarding, health and wellness, and training events
- Provided the opportunity to job shadow the HR Advisors
- Assist HR Coordinator with recording HR meeting minutes
- Handle highly sensitive and confidential matters relating to the daily activity of the department
- Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required
- Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Westbank First Nation policies, standards, and procedures and as directed by the Director of Human Resources
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Demonstrates knowledge of the Microsoft Word and Outlook
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work with frequent interruptions and with changing priorities
- Ensures a high level of confidentiality on all employment records, documents, files, information and data
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Ability to exercise sound judgment
- Ability to work in a cross-cultural work setting
- Require a passion and desire to work with people, for WFN, and with Human Resources
The median hourly wage for this position is $23.00
This is a term position set to end on August 28, 2026
