Position Summary

Are you passionate about nursing and ready to make a lasting impact on the next generation of health care professionals in Alberta? As a Practical Nurse Instructor, you will play a vital role in shaping learner success by delivering high-quality instruction, mentoring learners through clinical and lab experiences, and fostering the skills, knowledge, and confidence required for their nursing careers. What You’ll Do

  • Provide quality instruction in theoy, lab, and clinical courses.

  • Select effective instructional strategies and create lesson plans to support diverse learner needs.

  • Support curriculum development and ensure course content remains current and relevant.

  • Evaluate learner performance and provide clear feedback to support growth and progress.

  • Facilitate positive learning experiences across face-to-face, blended, online, and clinical settings.

  • Support learners in navigating challenges, accommodations, and access to student services.

  • Participate in college and program events, including orientations, graduations, and community outreach.

  • Maintain strong professional relationships with health care stakeholders, employers, and advisory groups.

This role encompasses all aspects of instructional delivery, including teaching preparation, program and course development, and evaluation. The role will also provide student support (e.g., consultation and remediation), participate in special projects and College committees, and carry out other responsibilities to support academic and institutional goals as deemed.

What You Bring

  • Diploma in Nursing (LPN or RN).

  • Current, unrestricted CLPNA or CARNA Practice Permit.

  • At least 4 years of recent acute care nursing experience.

  • CPR Health Care Provider Level certification.

  • Up-to-date immunizations and a Police Information Check (vulnerable sector included).

  • Ability to teach to full scope of practice in compliance with government requirements for Practical Nurse facilitators.

  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and best teaching practices.

  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

This opening is a continuous Faculty position, open to existing faculty from Bow Valley College only. Please note all successful candidates will be required to provide copies of government issued identification and proof of educational qualifications upon hire and may be required to provide an enhanced police information check.
