Position Overview:
The Configuration Technician is responsible for preparing, configuring, testing, and deploying hardware and software systems to meet organizational or client requirements. This role ensures all devices, applications, and system configurations comply with company standards, security protocols, and performance benchmarks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Configure, image, and prepare workstations, laptops, servers, mobile devices, and/or network equipment according to project or operational requirements.
- Install and configure operating systems, applications, and security tools.
- Perform firmware and software updates, ensuring compatibility and stability.
- Maintain accurate configuration documentation, asset tracking, and change logs.
- Collaborate with IT teams to ensure configurations align with organizational standards and compliance requirements.
- Conduct functional testing and quality assurance prior to deployment.
- Troubleshoot configuration-related issues and provide technical support to end users.
- Assist in developing and maintaining configuration management processes and guidelines.
- Support hardware refresh, migration, and rollout projects.
- Ensure all configuration activities adhere to cybersecurity best practices.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in hardware and software configuration in an enterprise environment.
- Strong knowledge of operating systems (e.g., Windows, macOS, Linux) and relevant deployment tools.
- Familiarity with configuration management tools (e.g., SCCM, Intune, Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
- Understanding of networking fundamentals and device configuration (switches, routers, firewalls).
- Ability to follow and create technical documentation and configuration standards.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
